| This is where the Challenger really started to take shape. From the day the entire grille section was installed, every time I visited Lucy, she always "looked" ready to take home but of course, she was still minus her interior. As you'll see below, the first fire up was a great success. This was taken when the 440ci Magnum was fired up after 2-1/2 years of resto work.
The 440 started without any hitches. The video (as usual) doesn't do the sound or vision justice but boy does she sound good!! I could not make it for the "break in period" as the shop was closing so we couldn't do it when I took this video and I had work the next day, so, would miss the first fire up. We organised this quick fire up so I could hear the engine come to life for the first time after restoration. It was more a celebration for me than anything else. It was like hearing your childs first words lol!
The following day she was put through the breaking in procedure which consists of a small but important check list and bringing the car to rev at 2,000rpm for 20 minutes. On the Restoration Complete page there's also a video from the rear picking up the exhaust note at idle. You will also see below that all the seats are ready to be installed as are the door panels. All this in the same week and the first fire up! It was very exciting indeed! |
